2. Preparing for Printing Confirming the Connection Method This machine supports local and network connection. Before installing the software, check how the machine is connected. • The printer drivers do not support clustering technology under Windows Server 2003/2003 R2/2008. To install the following software applications, press the corresponding Installation Key: Installation Key Quick Install for USB Quick Install for Network PCL/RPCS Raster Printer Drivers or Printer Driver User Guide Installed Software Printer driver User Guide Printer driver User Guide Local Connection If the machine is connected via USB, install the necessary software by inserting the supplied CDROM into your computer and then clicking [Quick Install for USB]. See p.49 "Quick Install for USB". Network Connection If the machine is connected via the network, install the necessary software by inserting the supplied CD-ROM into your computer and then clicking [Quick Install for Network]. See p.57 "Quick Install for Network". • With a network connection, you can use the Windows printer port to send print jobs to the printer directly (peer-to-peer transfer) or use the machine as a network printer and send print jobs to the machine from a client computer via a print server. • To update the printer driver, download the latest driver from the manufacturer's Web site. 46
