(Serves 3-4) INGREDIENTS 15mIs/ltbsp oil 350g/3/4 lb minced beef 2 - 3 rashers bacon, chopped 1 onion, finely chopped 20Og/8oz canned chopped tomatoes 3Om1s/2 tblsps tomato puree 1Omis/2 tsps dried oregano 1 bay leaf 1-2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed 5Og/2oz mushrooms, washed and sliced 1-2 sticks celery, chopped '/z green pepper, diced (optional) 1O0mis hot beef stock (or red wine) 2 tsps cornflour mixed to a smooth paste with a little cold water salt and black pepper COOKWARE Large microwaveproof casserole dish with lid. Place on turntable. METHOD 1. Place the oil, onion, garlic, celery and bacon in a large microwaveproof casserole dish and microwave covered on 900W for 2 minutes. Add the minced beef and pepper and cook for a further 4 minutes on 900W. Stir twice and break up the minced beef with a fork. 2. Stir in all the remaining ingredients except the cornflour. Stir well. Cover and cook using microwave 900W for 5 minutes. 3. Stir in the cornflour mixture. Mix well and re-cover the dish. Return the dish to the oven and continue to cook using microwave 450W for 15-20 minutes. 4. After cooking stir well and serve with pasta. Microwave Tip Easy Peeling Garlic. Heat 3 or 4 cloves of garlic on 900W microwave power for 15-20 seconds. Squeeze one end until the clove pops out. 29

METHOD
1.

the

microwaveproof

dish
and
microwave

900W
for

minutes.
Add
the
minced
beef
and
pepper
and
cook
for
a
further
4
minutes
on
900W.
Stir
twice
and

up
the
minced
beef
with
a
fork.
2.
Stir
in
all
the
remaining
ingredients
except
the
cornflour.
Stir
well.
Cover
and
cook
using
microwave
900W
for
5
minutes.
3.
Stir
in
the
cornflour
mixture.
Mix
well
and
re-cover
the
dish.
Return
the
dish
to
the
oven
and
continue
to
cook
using
microwave
450W
for
15-20
minutes.
4.
After
cooking
stir
well
and
serve
with
pasta.

Tip
Easy
Peeling
Garlic.
Heat
3
or
4
cloves
of
garlic
on
900W
microwave
power
for
15-20
seconds.
Squeeze
one
end
until
the
clove
pops
out.
