Note Note Note The printer exits PowerSave mode and enters the warm up cycle when any of the following occurs: q A print job, valid data, or a PML or PJL command is received at the parallel port or an EIO card. q A Control Panel key is pressed. q The top cover is opened and then closed. q A paper tray is opened and then closed. q The Engine Test button is pressed. Printer error messages override the PowerSave message. The printer will enter PowerSave mode at the appropriate time, but the error message will continue to be displayed. Resolution Enhancement technology (REt) The Formatter PCA contains circuitry for Resolution Enhancement technology (REt), which modifies the standard video dot data on its way to the DC Controller Board to produce "smoothed" black-to-white boundaries. REt can be set from the Control Panel, or from some software applications. The default setting is medium. REt settings sent from software applications or printer drivers override the Control Panel settings. EconoMode The EconoMode setting uses up to 50% less toner than standard mode printing by reducing the dot density. However, EconoMode does not extend Toner Cartridge component life. EconoMode, which can be thought of as "draft mode," can be selected from the Control Panel (Print Quality Menu) and through some software applications and printer drivers. The default setting is off. EconoMode does not affect print speed or memory usage, nor does it extend the Toner Cartridge's life. EN Formatter System 5-13
