They are field-replaceable units (FRUs) that can be installed in the line card slots on the front of the switch chassis. The line cards are hot-insertable and hot-removable: You can remove and replace them without powering off the switch or disrupting switch functions. J-EX8200 switches use the following types of line cards: • 8-port SFP+ line card • 48-port SFP line card • 48-port RJ-45 line card You can use any combination of line cards in a J-EX8200 switch. The 8-port SFP+ line card for J-EX8200 switches (see Figure 15 on page 33) has eight 10-gigabit SFP+ ports on the faceplate in which you can install SFP+ transceivers. The line card is shipped with dust covers preinstalled in the ports. Each port has two LEDs. See "Network Port LEDs in a J-EX8200 Switch" on page 36. 32
