server's maintenance documentation and understand the procedures for installing a PCI card before you begin installing the HCA. Caution: The HCA-400 is PCI-X 2.2 and PCI 2.1 compliant (32/64 bit, 66/100/133 MHz). All server models that are qualified by HP are tested and configured to meet the requirements of this HCA card. You cannot use these installation instructions with alternate server models, or with alternate configurations of supported servers. The HCA is installed when a cluster is assembled at the factory. Therefore, the most likely maintenance scenario involves the removal and replacement of a defective card in a running cluster where diagnostics have proven the card defective. Always be sure to use the correct version of firmware for the type of HCA card you are installing and consult the Voltaire InfiniBand Fabric Management and Diagnostic Guide and the HP Cluster Platform InfiniBand Fabric Management and Diagnostic Guide for more information on troubleshooting procedures. If you are performing a field upgrade of a cluster that is shut down, you install the card in the server before the server is mounted in the rack. Figure 8-2 shows a typical installation procedure.
