Installing a 1.44 MB diskette drive The following notes describe the type of diskette drive that your server supports and other information that you must consider when installing a diskette drive: v Your xSeries 450 server supports one diskette drive. v The diskette drive must be installed in the left drive bay. v The IDE drives installed in your server are not hot-swappable. v Your operating system must support a diskette drive. Complete the following steps to install a diskette drive in your server: 1. Review the information in "Safety information" on page 197, and "Installation guidelines" on page 77. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external devices from the back of the server. 3. Inspect the drive for any signs of damage. 4. Slide the drive into the left drive bay until it stops. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, connect the power cords and turn on the server. Complete the following steps to remove a diskette drive from your server: 1. Read the safety information beginning on page 197 and "Installation guidelines" on page 77. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external devices from the back of the server. 3. Push the drive-eject button to the right. 4. Using the tab, pull the diskette drive partially out of the server; then, grasp the drive and remove it from the server. 5. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now.
