test requires fully written media to be installed in the device being tested. Partially written media will result in a read error at the end of data. If only blank media is available, use the SCSI Tape Write Test to write a test pattern onto the blank media. To run the SCSI Tape Read Test, complete the following steps: 1. From the main menu, select SCSI, and press Enter. 2. Select SCSI Tape Read Test, and press Enter. A default parameter screen appears: SSeleelcetcSt SCCSSI DI Disiksk OOvveerraalll%%PPaarraammeetteerrss 110000 SSCCSSII DDiisskk 00 CCOONNTTIINNUUEE Parameter overall % Common: SCSI Tape n Description Specifies drivewise % as set for each drive. Use the term % to specify all drives Specify an individual drive parameter. The following screen appears when you specify an individual drive: SSCCSSI ITTaappee RReeaadd TTeesstt TTeestsTt aTpaep0e 0 SECSECtnOantOdaNrdtBNrTBtBlIToBlNolcIolNUckockEUckkE : Y:EYSES : : 0000:: 02000000020208000002080000000000 A prompt for the percentage of the drive to be tested appears. 3. Specify the percentage of the drive to be tested, select CONTINUE, and press Enter. If the tape is not positioned at the beginning of the starting block, a tape rewind command is issued before the test begins. v SCSI Tape Rewind Test Use this test to make sure that the SCSI tape drive can rewind a tape. To run the SCSI tape rewind test, complete the following steps. Note: A fully written tape must be installed to run this test. 1. From the main menu, select SCSI, and press Enter. 2. Select SCSI Tape Rewind Test, and press Enter. v SCSI Tape Write Test Use this test to verify the ability of the SCSI tape drive to write data correctly to a tape. Use a tape that you know is good for this test. This test is normally hidden from view because it erases the data on the tape. Select the tape drives to be tested, and run the test. Attention: This test erases all data on the disk. Video diagnostic tests Select this choice to run diagnostic tests on the display and the video controller. Chapter 3. Diagnostics 51
