Level 2 Light Path LED FRU/action MEM LED on (memory error) 1. Check DIMM error LED on memory board. Note: If there is a DIMM failure, an LED on the memory board indicates the failing DIMM. Reseat the failing DIMMs, re-enable the DIMMs using the Configuration/Setup Utility program, and run AMIDiag to pinpoint the failing DIMM. 2. DIMM. 3. Memory board. DASD LED on (hot-swap hard drive failure) Note: If RAID system, refer to the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the specific RAID adapter. 1. Run the AMIDiag program. 2. Failing drive (reseat/replace). 3. Be sure the fans are operating correctly and the air flow is good. 4. SCSI backplane. PCI-X BUS LED on (adapter failure) 1. Check the system-error log. 2. If there is a PCI-X slot available, move the adapter to an empty PCI-X slot, and restart the server. 3. Failing adapter. 4. PCI-X board. FAN LED on (fan failure) Note: A failing fan can also cause the TEMP and DASD LEDs to be on. 1. Check individual fan LEDs. 2. Replace respective fan. 3. Front fan connectors. 4. I/O board. TEMP LED on (temperature too high) 1. If a fan LED is on, replace the fan. 2. Ambient temperature must be within normal operating specifications. See "Features and specifications" on page 3. 3. Examine the system-error log. a. System over recommended temperature b. Operator information panel c. DASD over recommended temperature - overheating hard disk drive. d. System over temperature for processor x (where x is processor number) - microprocessor x. e. VRM LED on - failing VRM. f. Power supply fault / over temp - failing power supply NMI (nonmaskable interrupt) Note: A PCI or MEM LED may also be on. 1. See the system-error log. 2. If a PCI LED is on, follow the instructions for that LED. 3. If a MEM LED is on, follow the instructions for that LED. 4. Restart the server. Board LED on (system monitor detected an error on one of the six system boards (see system board LEDs 1-6 for additional location information) 1. Turn off the server and disconnect the ac power cord. 2. Wait at least 10 seconds before plugging in the ac power cord again, and restart the server. 3. Failed system board.
