Problem Characters are not correctly displayed on web pages. Linked pages do not open. Some images are not displayed on a web page. Although connected to the Internet, web pages do not display. A correct web page URL is not shown in the Fav. list. Buttons do not respond. Causes and remedies • Select [Reload] and wait for the page to reload. • Select [Back] or [Fwd] to open another page, then return to the page with the problem. If the problem persists, turn the power on and off. • Open the [Settings] - [Web] screen and check the character code setting. If you changed the character code, the changed code becomes effective only after the monitor is restarted. • Characters will not display properly if the page is in a language that is not supported by the LocationFreeTV. • File types that are not supported by the LocationFreeTV cannot be displayed. Web pages that use an unsupported plug-in also cannot be displayed. However, even Flash and PDF files supported by the device may not display for some web sites. • To view a web page using Flash, select the check box for [Enable Flash] in the [Web] settings window (1 page 82). • Web pages written in JavaScript will sometimes not display properly or will load repeatedly. You can continue to wait, or select [Reload] after a while and try reloading the page. • The access point or the server may be busy. Wait a little while, and then try reloading the page. • To view a web page using Flash, select the check box for [Enable Flash] in the [Web] settings window (1 page 82). • Check the web page address. • If you try to open a page that uses Flash or places a heavy burden on the system's memory, the memory may be insufficient to open the page. If other tabs are open, close them all. • Web pages written in JavaScript will sometimes not display properly or will load repeatedly. Deactivating JavaScript by removing the check mark from [Enable JavaScript] in the [Web] settings window will often allow the page to display properly. (Normally, leave [Enable JavaScript] selected and keep it enabled (1 page 82).) • Some portions of web pages written in JavaScript cannot be displayed with the LocationFreeTV. Plug-ins other than Flash are not supported. On a web site that supports frames, sometimes the address displayed for a page is not the address of the page itself. • Button response can slow down while a web page is loading. Wait for the page to finish loading and then select the button. • While waiting for a web page to finish loading, the [Add] button on the Favorites list and the [Add] button on the [Save] settings window sometimes go dim and cannot be selected. Wait for the web page to finish loading and then try again. 146
