Device Configuration Menu Chapter 4 Configuring Settings on the Cisco Unified IP Phone Ethernet Configuration Menu The Ethernet Configuration menu includes the options that are described in Table 4-14. Table 4-14 Ethernet Configuration Menu Option Option Span to PC Port Forwarding Delay Description To Change Indicates whether the phone will forward packets transmitted and received on the network port to the access port. Enable this option if an application that requires monitoring of the phone's traffic is being run on the access port. These applications include monitoring and recording applications (common in call center environments) and network packet capture tools that are used for diagnostic purposes. From Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, choose Device > Phone > Phone Configuration. Indicates whether the internal switch begins forwarding From Cisco Unified Communications packets between the PC port and switched port on the phone Manager Administration, choose Device > when the phone becomes active. Phone > Phone Configuration. • When forwarding delay is set to disabled, the internal switch begins forwarding packets immediately. • When forwarding delay is set to enabled, the internal switch waits eight seconds before forwarding packets between the PC port and the switch port. Indicates whether the phone will forward packets transmitted
and received on the network port to the access port.

From Cisco Unified Communications
Manager Administration, choose

Forwarding
Delay
Indicates whether the internal switch begins forwarding
packets between the PC port and switched port on the phone
when the phone becomes active.
When forwarding delay is set to disabled, the internal
switch begins forwarding packets immediately.
When forwarding delay is set to enabled, the internal
switch waits eight seconds before forwarding packets
between the PC port and the switch port.
Default is disabled.
