AE Metering This setting allows you to specify which region of a scene the camera will use to calculate the exposure. 1. In the Capture Menu (page 61), select AE Metering. 2. In the AE Metering sub-menu, use the buttons to highlight a setting. 3. Press the button to save the setting and return to the Capture Menu. The following table explains the settings in more detail: Setting Description Average The camera uses the entire scene to measure and calculate exposure. Use this setting when you want everything in the picture to be used equally when calculating exposure. Center- The camera uses a large area in the center of the scene Weighted to measure and calculate exposure. This setting is good to use when the subject of the picture is in the center of the frame. Exposure will be based more on the subject than on its surroundings. This is the default setting. Spot The camera uses a small area in the center of the scene to measure and calculate exposure.
