Finding a Place for the Printer • If you install the optional face-up tray, you need 16 inches (400 mm) of space behind the printer. Make sure there is 13 inches (330 mm) of flat, unobstructed space to the left of the printer to accommodate the tray. l To give you enough room to open the printer cover, allow 17 inches or 430 mm from the bottom of the printer to any shelf or surface directly above the printer, as shown below.
