Cleaning and maintaining the equipment WARNING! WARNING! Before you perform these steps, unplug the printer to avoid shock hazard. To maintain quality, thoroughly clean the product: l any time a new toner cartridge is installed. l after printing approximately 2,500 pages. l whenever print quality problems appear. Clean the outside of the printer with a water-dampened cloth. Clean the inside with only a dry, lint-free cloth (such as lens tissue). To avoid permanent damage to the toner cartridge, do not use ammonia-based cleaners on or around the product. When cleaning around the printer door area, avoid touching the heating element. It might be very hot and can cause burns. CAUTION Do not touch the surface of the transfer roller. Contaminants on the roller can cause print quality problems. Note Be careful not to touch the glass surface of the image sensor. If you inadvertently touch the glass, clean it according to the instructions on the following pages.
