Receiving New Messages When you receive a message in Standby mode, one of the following occurs: • If Auto View and Auto Scroll are both set to On - An alert sounds (unless turned off) and the message text automatically appears in the display and scrolls slowly to the end of the message. (For more information, refer to "Message Settings" on page 65.) • If Auto View is set to Off - An alert sounds (unless turned off) and a New Message notification appears in the display along with the closed envelope icon ( ). The date and time of the message and the following options also appear in the display: - View Now / Play now? Yes - Opens the message where you have the option to Reply, Forward, Erase, Add To Contacts, Lock/Unlock, Save Quick Text, Save Attached Files, or Message Info. 61 - View Later / Play now? No - Closes the popup and saves the message to your inbox where you can view it later. Select the desired option. Receive Messages in Chat View When you exchange a series of text messages with a single Contact or number, you can view your incoming messages and your sent messages as if they were a "chat session". Note: To use Chat View, you must set the Messages ➔ Message Settings ➔ Text Msg View ➔ View Mode setting to Chat. (For more information, refer to "Message Settings" on page 65.) 1. View your incoming text message(s) in Auto View or View Now mode. (For more information, refer to "Receiving New Messages" on page 61.) The Chat With screen appears in the display. • indicates an incoming text message. • indicates an outgoing text message.

Receiving New Messages
When you receive a message in
Standby mode, one of the following
