TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE MISFEED IN THE BYPASS TRAY 1 Carefully pull the misfed paper out. 2 Open and close the side cover. Make sure that the misfeed message is cleared. The message can also be cleared by opening and closing the front cover. If the message is not cleared, see "A. Misfeed in the paper feed area". MISFEED IN THE MACHINE Determine the location of the misfeed and remove it appropriately as indicated below. If paper is misfed, go to "B. Misfeed in the fusing area" (p.67). If paper is misfed here, go to "A. Misfeed in the paper feed area" (below). A. Misfeed in the paper feed area 1 Open the bypass tray and the side cover. 3 Carefully remove the misfed paper. Turn the roller rotating knob in the direction of the arrow to assist in removing it. Roller rotating knob Be careful not to tear the misfed paper during removal. 2 Press gently on both sides of the front cover and pull it open. 66 Warning The fusing unit is hot. Do not touch the fusing unit when removing misfed paper. Doing so may cause a burn or injury. Caution Do not touch the photoconductive drum (green portion) when removing the misfed paper. Doing so may damage the drum and cause smudges on copies.

Carefully pull the misfed paper out.

Open and close the side cover.
Make sure that the
misfeed message is
cleared.
The message can also
be cleared by opening
and closing the front
cover.
If the message is not
cleared, see "A. Misfeed
in the paper feed area".
MISFEED IN THE MACHINE
Determine the location
of the misfeed and remove it appropriately as indicated below.

cover.

Press gently on both sides of the front
cover and pull it open.

Carefully remove the misfed paper.
Turn the roller rotating knob in the
direction of the arrow to assist in

misfed paper during
removal.
If paper is misfed here, go to
