Using the Command Line Interface vap This command provides access to the VAP (Virtual Access Point) interface configuration mode. Syntax vap vap-id - The number that identifies the VAP interface. (Options: 0-3) Default Setting None Command Mode Interface Configuration (Wireless) Example Enterprise AP(if-wireless g)#vap 0 Enterprise AP(if-wireless g: VAP[0])# speed This command configures the maximum data rate at which the access point transmits unicast packets. Syntax speed speed - Maximum access speed allowed for wireless clients. (Options for 802.11a: 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54 Mbps) (Options for 802.11b/g: 1, 2, 5.5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54 Mbps) Default Setting 54 Mbps Command Mode Interface Configuration (Wireless) Command Usage • The maximum transmission distance is affected by the data rate. The lower the data rate, the longer the transmission distance. • When turbo mode is enabled (page 5-106) for 802.11a, the effective maximum speed specified by this command is double the entered value (e.g., setting the speed to 54 Mbps limits the effective maximum speed to 108 Mbps). 5-105
