With the hold-down bracket either removed or rotated away from the top of the card (depending on workstation configuration), pull the retention arm on the PCI Express x16 card (located on the back of the expansion socket) away from the card, and carefully rock the card back-andforth until the connectors pull free from the socket. Pull the expansion card straight up from the socket then away from the inside of the chassis to release it from the chassis frame. Be sure not to scrape the card against the other components. 5. Store the removed card in anti-static packaging. 6. If not replacing the old expansion card with a new expansion card, install an expansion slot cover to close the open slot. Insert the metal slot cover in the opened slot and slide the slot cover lock down to secure the slot cover in place.
