Removing the Small Hot-swap Air Baffle (Backplane Installed) 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information." 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC external source. 3. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover." 4. Remove the large air baffle. For instructions, see "Removing the Large Hot-swap Air Baffle (Backplane Installed)." 5. Remove the fan module. For instructions, see "Removing the Fan Module." 6. Remove the SATA or SCSI backplane. For instructions, see "Removing a SATA or SCSI Backplane." 7. Important: Note how cables are routed around and under the air baffle. You will need to re- route these cables when you reinstall the air baffle. 8. Pull up on the air baffle to remove it, disengaging the hooks that attach the baffle at the rear of the drive bay area. See letter "A" in the figure below. You may need to remove or hold cables out of the way. 9. Return to the procedure that directed you to remove the small air baffle. TP01348 Figure 18. Removing the Small Hot-swap Air Baffle (Backplane Installed)
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “

2.
Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC
external source.
3.
Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see “

4.
Remove the large air baffle. For instructions, see “

5.
Remove the fan module. For instructions, see “

6.
Remove the SATA or SCSI backplane. For instructions, see “
Removing a SATA or SCSI
Backplane

Important:
Note how cables are routed around and under the air baffle. You will need to re-
route these cables when you reinstall the air baffle.
8.
Pull up on the air baffle to remove it, disengaging the hooks that attach the baffle at the rear of
the drive bay area. See letter “A” in the figure below. You may need to remove or hold cables
out of the way.
9.
Return to the procedure that directed you to remove the small air baffle.
