Hardware Installations and Upgrades Installing the Fixed Drive Air Baffle (No Backplane Installed) 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information." 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC external source. 3. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover." 4. Hook the front of the air baffle under the drive bay area at the left of the fan module, engaging the two small hooks at the front of the air baffle. See letter "A" in the figure below. 5. Lower the baffle into the chassis behind the drive bay area, using your notes from the air baffle removal steps to re-route any cables. See letter "B" in the figure below. 6. Line up the guide pin on the chassis floor with the matching hole in the baffle. See letter "C" in the figure. 7. Push down on the baffle to secure it to the chassis. Use caution so you do not pinch any cables under the baffle. 8. Return to the procedure that directed you to install the fixed drive air baffle. Installing the Fixed Drive Air Baffle (No Backplane Installed)
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “
Safety
Information
.”
2.
Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC
external source.
3.
Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see “
Removing the Chassis Cover
.”
4.
Hook the front of the air baffle under the drive bay area at the left of the fan module, engaging
the two small hooks at the front of the air baffle. See letter “A” in the figure below.
5.
Lower the baffle into the chassis behind the drive bay area, using your notes from the air baffle
removal steps to re-route any cables. See letter “B” in the figure below.
6.
Line up the guide pin on the chassis floor with the matching hole in the baffle. See letter “C” in
the figure.
7.
Push down on the baffle to secure it to the chassis. Use caution so you do not pinch any cables
under the baffle.
8.
Return to the procedure that directed you to install the fixed drive air baffle.
