Hardware Installations and Upgrades Installing and Removing a Hard Disk Drive Up to six hard drives of one of the following types can be installed, depending on the hard drive installation options used in your server chassis and the drives supported by your server board. Five hot-swap SATA drives if the SATA backplane is installed. Five hot-swap SCSI drives if the SCSI backplane is installed. Three fixed SATA drives if the fixed drive kit is installed. Six hot-swap SATA drives if both the SATA backplane and the sixth drive kit are installed. Six hot-swap SCSI drives if both the SCSI backplane and the sixth drive kit are installed. NOTE The Intel Server Chassis SR2400 does not support all hard drives. See "Additional Information and Software" for an Internet link to a list of supported hardware. Removing a SATA or SCSI Hot-swap Hard Disk Drive Use these instructions only if you have installed the SATA or SCSI backplane kit. 1. Remove the front bezel if it is installed. For instructions, see "Removing the Front Bezel." 2. Press in on the green latch at the front of the hard drive carrier. See letter "A" in the figure below. 3. Installing and Removing a Hard Disk Drive
Up to six hard drives of one of the following types can be installed, depending on the hard drive
installation options used in your server chassis and the drives supported by your server board.

Five hot-swap SATA drives if the SATA backplane is installed.

Five hot-swap SCSI drives if the SCSI backplane is installed.

NOTE
The Intel Server Chassis SR2400 does not support all hard drives. See

Removing a SATA or SCSI Hot-swap Hard Disk Drive
Use these instructions only if you have installed the SATA or SCSI backplane kit.
1.
Remove the front bezel if it is installed. For instructions, see
“Removing the Front Bezel.”
2.
Press in on the green latch at the front of the hard drive carrier. See letter “A” in the figure
below.
3.
Pull out on the black lever and slide the carrier from the chassis. See letter “B” in the figure
below.
