Installing and Removing a PCI Add-in Card In the slots provided by the PCI riser card, you can install either one or two PCI add-in cards. Peripherals and add-in cards are not included in your system and must be purchased separately. The riser connector at the center of the chassis supports a single full-height add-in card or a single low profile PCI add-in card. A low-profile add-in card that is to be installed in the full-height riser connector must be equipped with a standard full-height PCI mounting bracket. Installing a PCI Add-in Card 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information." 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC external source. 3. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover." 4. Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see "Removing the Processor Air Duct." 5. Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see "Removing the PCI Riser Assembly." 6. Open the PCI retention clip(s) on the PCI riser card assembly. If you are installing a full-length PCI card, you will need to open clips at both the front and rear of the riser assembly. See the two letter "A's" in the figure below. 7. Remove the filler panel at the back of the riser assembly. See letter "B" in the figure below. 8. Insert the add-in card, pressing in on it until it seats in the riser card connector. Make sure the bracket inserts into the matching slot. See letter "C". 9. Close the PCI retention clip(s). Installing and Removing a PCI Add-in Card
In the slots provided by the PCI riser card, you can install either one or two PCI add-in cards.
Peripherals and add-in cards are not included in your system and must be purchased separately. The
riser connector at the center of the chassis supports a single full-height add-in card or a single low
profile PCI add-in card. A low-profile add-in card that is to be installed in the full-height riser
connector must be equipped with a standard full-height PCI mounting bracket.
Installing a PCI Add-in Card
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “
Safety
Information
.”
2.
Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC
external source.
3.
Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see
“Removing the Chassis Cover.”
4.
Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see “
Removing the Processor Air Duct
.”
5.
Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see
“Removing the PCI Riser Assembly.”
6.
Open the PCI retention clip(s) on the PCI riser card assembly. If you are installing a full-length
PCI card, you will need to open clips at both the front and rear of the riser assembly. See the
two letter “A’s” in the figure below.
7.
Remove the filler panel at the back of the riser assembly. See letter “B” in the figure below.
8.
Insert the add-in card, pressing in on it until it seats in the riser card connector. Make sure the
bracket inserts into the matching slot. See letter “C”.
9.
Close the PCI retention clip(s).
