Installing the SATA or SCSI Sixth Drive Accessory The SATA and SCSI sixth drive accessories is used when a sixth SATA hot-swap drive or a sixth SCSI hot-swap drive is needed. The SATA or SCSI backplane accessory kit is required to install this accessory. After installing the sixth drive accessory kit, see "Removing a SATA or SCSI Hotswap Hard Disk Drive" for instructions on installing a hot-swap disk drive. ✏ NOTE You cannot use the sixth drive accessory kit to mix installations of SATA and SCSI drives. In other words, if you have five SCSI drives installed, you cannot use the sixth drive accessory as a way to install a SATA drive. Your drive types must match the type of backplane that you have installed. 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information." 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable or DC external source. 3. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover." 4. Remove the front bezel if it is installed. For instructions, see "Removing the Front Bezel." 5. Installing the SATA or SCSI Sixth Drive Accessory
The SATA and SCSI sixth drive accessories is used when a sixth SATA hot-swap drive or a sixth
SCSI hot-swap drive is needed. The SATA or SCSI backplane accessory kit is required to install
this accessory. After installing the sixth drive accessory kit, see “
Removing a SATA or SCSI Hot-
swap Hard Disk Drive
” for instructions on installing a hot-swap disk drive.
NOTE
You cannot use the sixth drive accessory kit to mix installations of SATA
and SCSI drives. In other words, if you have five SCSI drives installed, you
cannot use the sixth drive accessory as a way to install a SATA drive. Your
drive types must match the type of backplane that you have installed.

Remove the drive blank from the sixth drive bay by using a long screwdriver to push it out
through the front of the chassis.
