177 Keeping Your Files Safe Using a supervisor password To use an instant password, press Fn and F1 simultaneously. Pressing this hot key freezes the keyboard and Dual Point device(s) and blanks the screen. An instant password has no effect on an optional serial mouse or trackball. Using a supervisor password A supervisor password prevents other users from changing hardware configuration options. Setting a supervisor password 1 Click Start, then click All Programs. 2 Point to Toshiba Console, then click the resulting Toshiba Console selection. The Toshiba Console window appears. 3 Select Security. Sample Toshiba Console Security window 4 Click the Supervisor password icon. 5 Select Registered. 6 Enter a password (then enter it again to verify).
