234 Windows 2000 Supplemental Information Using Standby 8 Click OK again, then close the Control Panel. NOTE For more information about the Power Saver utility, see "Power Saver" on page 167. Starting again from Hibernation To start up the computer from Hibernation mode, press the power button until the on/off light turns green. The computer returns to the screen you were using. If you activate Hibernation by closing the display panel, you can restart the computer by opening the display panel. Using Standby To power down the computer using the Standby command, click Start, Shut Down, select Stand by, then click OK. Sample Shut Down Windows dialog box The computer saves the status of all open programs and files to memory, turns off the display, and goes into a low-power mode. The on/off light ( On ) flashes amber, indicating the machine is in Standby mode.
