Understanding the Phone Startup Process Chapter 3 Setting Up the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G Standby Mode The phone goes into standby mode two seconds after a scan is complete. The phone will awaken from standby mode in response to these events: • Pressing keys on the keypad • Roaming between APs • Power cycling the phone • Losing network connectivity • Losing RF connectivity • Transmitting scheduled CDP or keep-alive packets. The standard battery provides up to 150 hours of standby time and the extended battery provides up to 200 hours of standby time. At startup, the phone runs a bootstrap loader that loads a phone image stored in Flash memory. The phone uses this image to initialize its software and hardware. The phone searches its network profiles and scans for access points that have a matching SSID and authentication type.
