Media Misfeeds

Page 200 highlights

Troubleshooting Probable Causes Solutions The documents loaded in the document feeder exceed the maximum capacity allowed. Place fewer documents in the document feeder. The document feeder guides are improperly adjusted. Ensure the media guides fit snugly against the media loaded in the document feeder. Media Misfeeds Probable Causes Solutions The media is not correctly positioned in the tray. The number of sheets in the tray exceeds the maximum sheets allowed. Remove the misfed media and reposition the media properly in the tray. Ensure that the media guides in the tray are set correctly. Remove the excess media and load media below the fill line. The media guides are not correctly adjusted to the media size. Warped or wrinkled media is loaded in the tray. The media is moist from humidity. Unsupported media (wrong size, thickness, type, etc.) is being used. The recommended transparency or label sheet is facing the wrong way in Tray 1. Envelopes are facing the wrong way in Tray 1. The media feed roller is dirty. Adjust the media guides in the tray to match the size of the media. Remove the media, smooth it out, and reload it. If it still misfeeds, do not use that media. Remove the moist media and replace it with new, dry media. Custom-sized media, envelopes, labels, heavyweight stock, or transparencies are loaded in Tray 2, Tray 3 or Tray 4. Special media must be loaded in Tray 1 only. Use Xerox-approved media. See Supported Media on page 41. Load the transparencies or label sheets according to the manufacturer's instructions. Load the envelopes in Tray 1 with the flaps facing up. If the flaps are on the long edge, load the envelopes with the flap toward the left of the printer with the flaps facing up. Clean the media feed roller. For more details, see Maintenance and Cleaning on page 154. 200 WorkCentre 6400 Multifunction Printer User Guide

Media Misfeeds
The documents loaded in the document feeder
exceed the maximum capacity allowed.
Place fewer documents in the document feeder.
The document feeder guides are improperly adjusted.
Ensure the media guides fit snugly against the media
loaded in the document feeder.
Probable Causes
Solutions
The media is not correctly positioned in the tray.
Remove the misfed media and reposition the media
properly in the tray. Ensure that the media guides in
the tray are set correctly.
The number of sheets in the tray exceeds the
maximum sheets allowed.
Remove the excess media and load media below the
fill line.
The media guides are not correctly adjusted to the
media size.
Adjust the media guides in the tray to match the size
of the media.
Warped or wrinkled media is loaded in the tray.
Remove the media, smooth it out, and reload it. If it
still misfeeds, do not use that media.
The media is moist from humidity.
Remove the moist media and replace it with new, dry
media.
Unsupported media (wrong size, thickness, type, etc.)
is being used.
Custom-sized media, envelopes, labels, heavyweight

The recommended transparency or label sheet is
facing the wrong way in Tray 1.

the manufacturer’s instructions.
Envelopes are facing the wrong way in Tray 1.
Load the envelopes in Tray 1 with the flaps facing up.
If the flaps are on the long edge, load the envelopes
