6. Install the heat sink on the microprocessor: Heat sink Retainer spring Heat-sink locking lever Microprocessor a. Pull out and lift up on the heat-sink locking lever to open the heat sink retention bracket. b. Make sure that the lever is fully extended. c. Remove the protective plastic cap from the bottom of the heat sink. Notes: 1) Do not set down the heat sink after you remove the protective plastic cap. Thermal grease Heat sink 2) Do not touch the thermal grease on the bottom of the heat sink. Touching the thermal grease on the bottom will contaminate it. Pull
out
and
lift
up
on
the
heat-sink
locking
lever
to
open
the
heat
sink
retention
bracket.
b.
Make
sure
that
the
lever
is
fully
extended.
c.
Remove
the
protective
plastic
cap
from
the
bottom
of
the
heat
sink.
Notes:
1)
Do
not
set
down
the
heat
sink
after
you
remove
the
protective
plastic
cap.
