Chapter 2. Introduction Use this information to help you solve problems that might occur in your blade server. This Problem Determination and Service Guide contains information to help you solve problems that might occur in your IBM BladeCenter® HS12 Type 8014, 8028 or 1916 blade server. It describes the diagnostic tools that come with the blade server, error codes and suggested actions, and instructions for replacing failing components. Blade server machine type 8014 exclusively supports a SATA interface card which controls the fixed-storage drives. Blade server machine type 8028 and 1916 exclusively supports a SAS interface card which controls hot-swap storage drives. Note: Replaceable components are of three types: v Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU): Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request, you will be charged for the installation. v Tier 2 CRU: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request IBM to install it, at no additional charge, under the type of warranty service that is designated for your server. v Field replaceable unit (FRU): FRUs must be installed only by trained service technicians. Problem Determination and Service Guide
contains information to help you solve
problems that might occur in your IBM BladeCenter
®
HS12 Type 8014, 8028 or
1916 blade server. It describes the diagnostic tools that come with the blade server,
error codes and suggested actions, and instructions for replacing failing
components.
Blade server machine type 8014 exclusively supports a SATA interface card which
controls the fixed-storage drives. Blade server machine type 8028 and 1916
exclusively supports a SAS interface card which controls hot-swap storage drives.
Note:
