OAM Cable Diagnostics Cable Diagnostics The cable diagnostics feature is designed primarily for administrators or customer service representatives to verify and test copper cables; it can rapidly determine the quality of the cables and the types of error. To view the following window, click OAM > Cable Diagnostics, as shown below: Figure 10-1 Cable Diagnostics Window The fields that can be configured are described below: Parameter From Port - To Port Description Select the appropriate port range used for the configuration here. Click the Test button to test the specific port. Click the Clear button to clear all the information for the specific port. Click the Clear All button to clear all the information in this table. NOTE: For this test, the supported cable length is from 10 to 130 meters and wire speed is at 100/1000 Mbps. Testing at 10 Mbps is not supported. NOTE: The distance deviation of cable length detection on 100/1000 Mbps ports are: • ± 25 meters on cables that are 40 meters and shorter. • ± 20 meters on cables that are between 40 and 100 meters. NOTE: The distance deviation on a link-down detection is: • ± 15 meters on cables that are 30 meters and shorter. • ± 7 meters on cables that are between 30 and 110 meters. • ± 15 meters on cables that are between 110 and 130 meters. 234
