The following is an example of the CLI commands: Console (config)# interface ethernet 1/e8 Console (config-if)# garp timer leave 900 Configuring the Spanning Tree Protocol The Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) provides a single path between end stations on a Layer 2 network, thereby eliminating loops. Loops occur when alternate routes exist between hosts. Loops in an extended network may cause bridges to forward traffic indefinitely, resulting in increased traffic and a reduction in network performance.
