Differences between GSM and GPRS/EDGE/HSPA technology GSM technology is typically used for voice calls and text messaging, whereas GPRS/EDGE/HSPA technology provides a data connection to the cellular network that can be used for web browsing, multimedia messages, or accessing your corporate network. Wi-Fi Wi-Fi enabled devices such as AirLife allow you to connect to the Internet through a Wi-Fi network/ hot spot. Wi-Fi is short for Wireless Local Area Network or WLAN devices based on IEEE 802.11 standards.
