Configuring storage system communication Use the Communication tab to configure the network interface used by the storage system to communicate with other storage systems on the network and to update the list of managers that the storage system can communicate with. Selecting the interface used by the SAN/iQ software The SAN/iQ software uses one network interface for communication with other storage systems on the network. In order for clustering to work correctly, the SAN/iQ software communication interface must be designated on each storage system. The interface can be • A single NIC that is not part of a bond • A bonded interface consisting of two bonded NICs NOTE: Only NICs that are in the Active or Passive (Ready) state can be designated as the communication interface. You cannot make a disabled NIC the communication interface. When you initially set up a storage system using the Configuration Interface, the first interface that you configure becomes the interface used for the SAN/iQ software communication. To select a different communication interface: 1. In the navigation window, select the storage system, and log in. P4000 SAN Solution user guide 107

Configuring storage system communication
Use the Communication tab to configure the network interface used by the storage system to
communicate with other storage systems on the network and to update the list of managers that the
storage system can communicate with.
Selecting the interface used by the SAN/iQ software

Only NICs that are in the Active or Passive (Ready) state can be designated as the communication
interface. You cannot make a disabled NIC the communication interface.
When you initially set up a storage system using the Configuration Interface, the first interface that
you configure becomes the interface used for the SAN/iQ software communication.
