Figure 75 Reviewing the Use Summary tab . In the Use Summary window, the Storage Space section lists the space available on the storage systems in the cluster. Saved space lists the space saved in the cluster by using thin provisioning and the SmartClone feature. The graphical display illustrates the amount of space in the cluster and its allocation as provisioned and available. Storage space is broken down as shown in Table 41 on page 199. Table 41 Information on the Use Summary tab Category Table information Storage Space Total Provisioned Available Saved Space Description Combined space available in the cluster for storage volumes and snapshots. Amount of space allocated for storage, including both volumes and snapshots. This value increases as snapshots are taken, or as a thinly provisioned volume grows. Amount of space remaining in the cluster that has not been allocated for storage. This value decreases as volumes and snapshots are created, or as thinly provisioned volumes grow. Thin Provisioning SmartClone Feature The space saved by thin provisioning volumes. This space is calculated by the system. Space saved by using SmartClone volumes is calculated using the amount of data in the clone point and any snapshots below the clone point. Only as data is added to an individual SmartClone volume does it consume space on the SAN. P4000 SAN Solution user guide 199
