• When placing processors on the clean ESD-protected work surface, place them with their pins facing down. Do not stack processors on top of each other. Only power on a system that has all four processor sockets populated with processor heat sinks and / or processor thermal blanks. Caution: Using a processor thermal blank that is not expressly designed for the Intel® Server System S7000FC4UR is not supported and may result in processor thermal issues. The server may have from one to four processors installed on the main board. If you are adding a processor to the system, the thermal blank must be removed. 1. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Top Cover" on page 90. 2. Remove the processor air baffle. For instructions, see "Removing the Processor Air Baffle" on page 92. 3. Use a long Phillips* head screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the thermal blank. 4. Lift the thermal blank to remove it. Figure 68. Caution:

1.
Remove the top cover. For instructions, see

2.
Remove the processor air baffle. For instructions, see

3.
Use a long Phillips* head screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the thermal
blank.
4.
Lift the thermal blank to remove it.
