• Provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection by wearing an antistatic wrist strap attached to chassis ground of the system-any unpainted metal surface-when handling components. Removing the Top Cover Before removing the top cover, observe these safety guidelines: 1. If you are not replacing a hot-swap component: - Turn off and disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the server. - Power down the system by pressing and holding the power button on the front of the chassis for several seconds. - After the server shuts down, unplug both AC power cords to remove standby power from the system. 2. If the system is mounted in a rack, slide it out far enough to expose the entire top cover. 3. Unscrew the two captive screws on the faceplate. See letter "A" in the figure below. 4. Slide the top cover toward the rear until it stops, then lift the cover to remove it. See letter "B" in the figure. B A A Figure 22. Removing the Top Cover
Before removing the top cover, observe these safety guidelines:
1.
If you are not replacing a hot-swap component:
Turn off and disconnect all peripheral devices connected to the server.
Power down the system by pressing and holding the power button on the front
of the chassis for several seconds.
After the server shuts down, unplug both AC power cords to remove standby
power from the system.
2.
If the system is mounted in a rack, slide it out far enough to expose the entire top
cover.
3.
Unscrew the two captive screws on the faceplate. See letter “A” in the figure below.
4.
Slide the top cover toward the rear until it stops, then lift the cover to remove it. See
letter “B” in the figure.
