2 Starting Up and Shutting Down the Server Powering Up the Server Press the power button on the front control panel. The fans start and POST begins. Note: It might take three minutes or longer for video to be displayed, depending on the amount of memory installed. The server attempts to boot from the first device on the list of available devices in the boot manager. If this device is not available, it will move to the second device. It continues down the list until it reaches the first available device. Shutting Down the Server 1. Exit the operating system if applicable. 2. Press and hold the power button until the server shuts down. Caution: Powering down the server with the power button does not remove all power. The +3.3V standby power is available even when the system is not running. To remove standby power, unplug all power cords from the system. 37
