Performing Initial System Configuration 63 Performing Initial After you install the PathBuilder S330/S310 hardware, you must complete the System Configuration following three steps in order to put the unit into operation: 1 Configure the system clock 2 Set up communication parameters 3 Set the time and date 4 Set up passwords You access the menus used to perform these steps from the System Administration menu, shown in Figure 33. To display the System Administration menu: From the Main menu, select [1] System Administration. Figure 33 System Administration Menu The following subsections provide instructions for performing the four initial configuration steps. See Chapter 4 for instructions on configuring specific PathBuilder S330/S310 ports and modules. Configuring the System Clock By default, the PathBuilder S330/S310 uses the internal clock as its reference clock. You can specify up to eight additional clocks for the system to use as a reference clock. When you set the clocks, you also assign each one a priority. You can then set the system clock to the clock with the highest priority. If this clock fails, the system automatically uses the clock with the next highest priority as its reference clock. It defaults to the internal clock only if all eight clocks fail or if there are no more valid selections.
