Troubleshooting an Optical Drive Problem • System cannot read data from a CD or DVD in an optical drive. • Optical drive indicator does not blink during boot. NOTE: DVD devices are data only. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet, and turn on the system and attached peripherals.

a
Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from its electrical outlet.
b

Problem
