RAC Card CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product. The optional Remote Access Controller (RAC) provides a set of advanced features for managing the server remotely. The following procedure describes the steps for installing or removing the optional RAC card. Installing a RAC Card 1 Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and then disconnect the system from the electrical outlet. 2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 46 3 If applicable, remove the plastic filler plug from the system back panel. See Figure 3-16. 4 Remove any PCI cards attached to the center riser. See "Removing an Expansion Card" on page 62. 5 Remove the center riser card from the system board. See "Expansion-Card Riser" on page 82. 6 Angle the RAC card so that its NIC connector inserts through the back-panel RAC card opening, aligning the card with the back standoff. Figure 3-16.
