To avoid potential problems you can order a kit with all the parts that you need to clean the printer with. The kit contains:  Lens covers Kit  Carriage Interconnect Wiper Kit  Carriage Rods Lubrication kit  Roller Lubrication kit  Platen cleaning instructions Use the contents of this kit to perform the following maintenance procedures and the frequency shown: Recommended Cleaning Frequency Procedure When the front-panel displays 'Lens Maintenance Advice' Refer to Lens Maintenance Every 3 Million Cycles or every year which ever comes first. Slider Rods Lubrication Kit NOTE: The number of cycles can be seen by going to Printer Setup/ Utilities/Statistics.
