enclosure Commands The Enclosure Column The Enclosure column displays the ID of a specific enclosure management device. This is the ID that you specify for the enclosure parameter on the command line. In the example, the enclosure list command displays enclosure management device IDs 0 and 1 (because the /all switch was specified). The Fan and Power Columns The Fan column displays the number of fans on the enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management devices support a maximum of sixteen fans. In the example, enclosure management devices 0 and 1 each have one fan. The Power column displays the number of power supplies on the enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management devices support a maximum of sixteen power supplies. In the example, enclosure management devices 0 and 1 each have one power supply. Note: The "hot swapping" of enclosures is not supported. If you perform a hot swap, the Fan and Power columns may display incorrect information. Either perform a controller pause_io before the hot swap, or a controller rescan after the hot swap to display the correct information. The Slot and Sensor Columns The Slot column displays the number of device slots on the enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management devices support a maximum of sixteen device slots. In the example, enclosure management devices 0 and 1 each have five device slots. The Sensor column displays the number of temperature sensors on the enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management devices support a maximum of sixteen temperature sensors. In the example, enclosure management devices 0 and 1 each have one temperature sensor. 11-9

enclosure Commands
The Enclosure Column
The
Enclosure
column displays the ID of a specific enclosure
management device. This is the ID that you specify for the
enclosure
parameter on the command line. In the example, the
enclosure list
command displays enclosure management
device IDs
0
and
1
(because the
/all
switch was specified).
The Fan and Power Columns
The
Fan
column displays the number of fans on the enclosure
management device. Typically, enclosure management devices
support a maximum of sixteen fans. In the example, enclosure
management devices
0
and
1
each have one fan.
The
Power
column displays the number of power supplies on the
enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management
devices support a maximum of sixteen power supplies. In the
example, enclosure management devices
0
and
1
each have one
power supply.
Note:
The ”hot swapping“ of enclosures is not supported. If
you perform a hot swap, the Fan and Power columns may
display incorrect information. Either perform a
controller pause_io
before the hot swap, or a
controller rescan
after the hot swap to display the
correct information.
The Slot and Sensor Columns
The
Slot
column displays the number of device slots on the
enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure management
devices support a maximum of sixteen device slots. In the example,
enclosure management devices
0
and
1
each have five device slots.
The
Sensor
column displays the number of temperature sensors on
the enclosure management device. Typically, enclosure
management devices support a maximum of sixteen temperature
sensors. In the example, enclosure management devices
0
and
1
each
have one temperature sensor.
