B Control panel menus You can perform most routine printing tasks from the computer by using the program or printer driver. These two methods are the most convenient way to control the printer, and they will override the printer-control-panel settings. See the Help file for your program, or, for more information about gaining access to the printer driver, see Using the printer driver. You can also control the printer by changing settings at the printer control panel. Use the control panel to gain access to printer features that are not supported by the program or printer driver. You can print a menu map at the printer control panel that shows the settings with the currently selected values (see Menu map. The sections that follow list the settings and possible values. In the Values column, the default value for each setting is the one with an asterisk (*) next to it. Some menus or menu items appear only if certain options are installed in the printer.
