Close the cover on the server; then, reinstall the server in the rack and connect all external cables. 11. Turn on the server. Installing the serial port Included with the server is a serial port that you can install at any time. This section provides the instructions for installing the serial port. Note: The serial port will occupy PCI-X slot one. Complete the following steps to install the serial port. 1. Review the information in "Safety information" on page 257 and "Installation guidelines" on page 79. 2. Pull out on the quick release latches on each side of the server; then, pull the server out of its rack enclosure until it stops. 3. Open the top cover. Chapter 4. Installing options 91
