12. Slide the server into the rack enclosure until it stops; then, secure the server in the rack enclosure using the quick release latches. 13. Connect all external cables and turn on the server. Note: Use the Configuration/Setup Utility program to configure the serial port. Installing or replacing a drive This section provides the instructions for installing and replacing a hot-swap hard disk drive, diskette drive, and DVD-ROM drive. Hot-swap hard disk drive Attention: When you handle static-sensitive devices, take precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these devices, see "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 80. The following steps describe how to install or replace a hot-swap hard disk drive. Note: Hard disk drives can only be hot-swapped if hard drive mirroring, such as that available with RAID, is in effect. 1. Inspect the drive for any signs of damage. 2. Review the information in "Installation guidelines" on page 79 and "Safety information" on page 257. 3. Check the instructions that come with the drive for more information about installing your drive. 4. Remove the filler panel or defective hard disk drive from the hard disk drive bay. 5. Install the new hard disk drive in the drive bay: a. Ensure that the handle on the hard disk drive tray is in the open position. b. Slide the drive into the bay until it stops. c.
