Ethernet controller troubleshooting The method of testing the Ethernet controller depends on which operating system is being used (see the Ethernet controller device driver README file). You can use the Ethernet wrap test to determine if a hardware problem is causing the Ethernet connection to fail. To perform the Ethernet wrap test, use the wrap plug (FRU 48P9494) with the diagnostic tests. Note: The wrap plug connects to the Ethernet port. Do not connect the wrap plug to the serial port of the Remote Supervisor Adapter. 76 xSeries 445 Type 8870: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide

Ethernet
controller
troubleshooting
The
method
of
testing
the
Ethernet
controller
depends
on
which
operating
system
is
being
used
(see
the
Ethernet
controller
device
driver
README
file).
You
can
use
the
Ethernet
wrap
test
to
determine
if
a
hardware
problem
is
causing
the
Ethernet
connection
to
fail.
To
perform
the
Ethernet
wrap
test,
use
the
wrap
plug
(FRU
48P9494)
with
the
diagnostic
tests.
Note:
The
wrap
plug
connects
to
the
Ethernet
port.
Do
not
connect
the
wrap
plug
to
the
serial
port
of
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter.
