Opening the cover Complete the following steps to open the server cover: 1. Review the information in Working inside the server with power on, "Safety information" on page 257, and "Installation guidelines" on page 79. 2. Pull out on the quick release latches on each side of the server; then, pull the server out of its rack enclosure until it stops. Latch NOTE: FOR PROPER FRONT OF BOX AIRFLOW, NOTE: FOR PROPER AIRFLOW, FRONT OF BOX REPLACE FAN WITHIN 2 MINUTES REPLACE FAN WITHIN 2 MINUTES Figure 30. Opening the cover 3. Pull the release latch on the left half of the top cover to the right. 4. Using the finger hole in the release latch, open the left half of the cover; then, open the right half of the cover. Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, close the cover before turning on the server.
