The server that holds the boot and configuration files must be configured as the network source for the system. By default, the necessary files are stored in the /tftpboot directory. If it is not, the jump-start reload is unable to download the file from the DHCP server, and it behaves as if the server could not be reached. The discovery process continues, despite configured time-out, until you enter the stop jump-start command. When loading the FTOS image, if the FTOS image on the server is different from the image on the local flash, the system downloads the image from the server onto the local flash and reloads using that image. If it is the same image, the system reloads from the flash without downloading a new image. Domain Name Server • Set up a DNS server. For more information, refer to the FTOS Configuration Guide IPv4 Addressing chapter. You must configure the Domain Name Server to determine the hostname for applying the configuration to the system when the DHCP offer does not have a configuration file specified.
