Chapter 2 Controls, Indicators, and Ports Main Menu The HP NetServer's LCD control panel displays the following message by default: HP NetServer LXr 8500 1. To reach the main menu from this default window, press the control panel's Enter button. The main menu appears with only two menu lines displayed at a time. ***Main Menu**** >HW Sys Info >FW Info >HW P/N Info >Event Log >Service 2. Use the control panel's up-arrow and down-arrow buttons to scroll up and down through the menu selections. A cursor highlights the currently selected line. Lines beginning with a greater-than symbol (>) and a blinking cursor, indicate submenu selections. 3. To choose a selection, use the arrow buttons to move the cursor to the appropriate line and then press the Enter button. The menu selections are: ◊ HW Sys Info. - Information on the HP NetServer's hardware configuration. ◊ FW Info. - The version numbers of the HP NetServer's firmware. ◊ HW P/N. - Part number and serial number of the HP NetServer's chassis. ◊ Event Log. - The HP NetServer's log of current and resolved error conditions. ◊ Service - This feature allows a NMI (non-maskable interrupt) for diagnostics purposes. These menu items are described on the following pages under the respective headings. 4. To return to the Main Menu from one of these selections, press the Escape button on the control panel. 5.
