Chapter 7 Installing Additional Processors l Use only HP recommended processor modules for the HP NetServer LXr 8500. l Additional processors must match existing processor module or be changed. It is not acceptable to mix processor modules (Pentium II or III) with various speeds, cache sizes, and product numbers. Your HP reseller can advise you about matching processor modules. See Figures 7-4 and 7-5 for the appropriate jumper settings. l Use processor expansion kits with the same HP product number when installing more than one processor module. This ensures the same processor type, clock speed and cache size. l The HP NetServer LXr 8500 does not require additional voltage regulator modules (VRMs) when adding additional processors. The processor boards have the required VRMS installed on the board. NOTE Before installing additional processors, you must first determine the slot availability for processor installation. Refer to Tables 7-1 and 7-2 for processor requirements. Table 7-1. Use only HP recommended processor modules for the HP NetServer
LXr 8500.
