Chapter 4 Installing Mass Storage Devices 1. At the front of the HP NetServer, open the bezel. Refer to Chapter 3, "Opening and Closing the HP NetServer" for details. 2. To unlock the drive, push the locking latch in and then pull the ejector handle toward you. See Figure 4-3. Pull locking latch completely open before pulling out the drive. Figure 4-3. Pulling Open the Latch of a Hot Swap Drive 3. Gently pull the drive out about an inch to disengage the power connection. 4. Wait 30 seconds for the drive to stop spinning and the drive heads to park. 5. Use your hand to support the bottom of the drive, while you slowly pull the drive straight out and do not allow the drive to fall. 6. Place drive in an electrostatically protected container and do not stack drives. Installing the Optional Tape Backup (DAT) Drive If you require the optional tape backup (DAT) drive and it did not come installed in the HP NetServer, you will have to remove the Peripheral bay to install it and connect both cables to the rear of the DAT tape drive. This procedure could also be used to install a different CD-ROM or Flexible Disk drive. 43
